According to S Balachandran, deputy director general, Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) said, “A trough of low pressure at mean sea level over southwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood now runs from Kanniyakumari to westcentral Bay of Bengal. This system brought widespead rain across the state in the last 24 hours. The heavy rainfall will occur at the isolated places.” In the last 24 hours, the maximum amount of rainfall was registered at Ponneri (13 cm). Other places Sholavaram and Kelambakkam received 8 cm and 7 cm of rainfall respectively.

The maximum temperature in the city will be 31 Degree Celsius and the minimum temperature would likely be around 24 Degree Celsius. Seasonal winds from northeasterly direction speed reaching up to 50-55 kmph occasionally were likely along and off south Tamil Nadu coast. Thus, fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea for the next 24 hours.
