IAS team to oversee Gaja rehabilitation
Taking a cue from the tsunami that wreaked havoc in Tamil Nadu in 2004, the State government, on Monday, passed a Government Order (GO) declaring the setting up of the Gaja Cyclone Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Rejuvenation Project (GRRRP).
Chennai
“Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has announced a special project for reconstruction of houses and other infrastructure and rehabilitation of those who are affected in the agriculture, horticulture and fisheries sectors in the affected districts.
Based on the above announcement, the Commissioner of Revenue Administration had proposed for launching the GRRRP,” the GO said.
GRRRP will be set up on the lines of the Tsunami Rehabilitation Project and will be headed by a Project Director, in the rank of a senior IAS officer. Jagannathan, MD, Tamil Nadu Text Book and Educational Services Corporation, has been transferred and posted as Project Director, GRRRP. Two other IAS officers, in the rank of sub-collectors, have been posted as Additional Project Directors. Pradeep Kumar, Kumbakonam sub-collector, had been made Additional Project Director for Nagapattinam and Tiruvarur districts.
The appointment order for the post of another Additional Project Director, for Thanjavur and Pudukkottai districts, would be issued later. The Revenue and Disaster Management Department will pass orders for the creation of other posts and appointments will be made subsequently.
