Governor running an alternative government in Tamil Nadu: Vaiko

“Since the day of his appointment, the Governor is acting like a broker and agent of the Centre. He is running a parallel government in the state. The Tamil Nadu government could have acted but chose to remain silent on the issue,” said Vaiko.

Leading a protest against Purohit for not releasing the seven Rajiv Gandhi case convicts near the Raj Bhavan, Vaiko said the Governor is not eligible for his post and should be thrown out.

“The present Central Government will not do it, but it will be overthrown by May next year.

The new government that is formed will replace the Governor,” Vaiko added.

Besides the MDMK leader, leaders of various parties like the DMK, the VCK, the CPI and organisations such the Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) and May 17 took part in the protest. When they tried to march towards the Raj Bhavan they were taken into custody by the police.

In his speech, DK president K Veeramani said, “All seven convicts are our brothers, they are our blood, but the Governor is fiddling when the entire state is burning.”

Meanwhile, the DMK has criticised the media for portraying the alleged attacker as a DMK cadre and said the person was not a member of the party.

“He (Suresh Babu) is in no way related to the DMK. He is not even a member of the party. It is unfortunate that false news was being reported about the violence committed by a person who is noteven a primary member of the party,” a clarification issued byDMK organising secretary R S Bharati said, adding that police should take stringent action against Suresh Babu and act without any sympathy.
