State Minister for Information and Publicity Kadambur Raju on Sunday said that Tamilrockers website is a challenge to the entire Tamil industry and Tamil cinema fraternity should unite to fight the challenge.
Chennai
“If cinema producers, distributors and theatre owners join together Tamilrockers can be eliminated and video piracy can be banned,” said Kadambur Raju, while addressing the media after participating in a function organised by Tamil cinema industry.
Video piracy has become a menace in Tamil cinema as all the newly released films were put up on the same day in the Tamilrockers website. Even after Madras High Court putting stay on Tamilrockers to put up the recently released Rajinikanth starred 2.0 movie, the website went ahead and uploaded the movie, on the same day of the release.
When Kadambur Raju was asked about the steps taken to prevent video piracy, he replied that it was only in Tamil Nadu there is an Act to prevent video piracy and the step to prevent video piracy was taken by late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. The Act is still in force, but government needs support from the Tamil cinema fraternity to put an end to Tamilrockers, the Minister said.
