Two-year-old run over by school van
In yet another case of negligent driving, a two-year-old boy was run over by his sister’s school bus, in Karur on Tuesday.

Sources said, Arumugam (34) and Durgadevi (30) residing at Sankarapalayam in Karur has two children, Pranitha (5) and Praveen (2). Pranitha has been studying LKG in a school at Vangal near Karur and she used to by the school van every day.
On Tuesday, when the school van arrived, Durgadevi had asked Praveen to stay at home and went to board her daughter in the school van.
But, Praveen followed his mother and stood in front of the bus. The driver who did not notice Praveen, moved the bus. Those in the vicinity who saw the bus moving panicked and rushed to rescue Praveen. But their efforts failed as the van ran over Praveen and killed him on the spot. On seeing this, the driver escaped from the spot.
Later, based on a complaint, Vangal police registered a case against the bus driver Manoharan (53), from Arasu Colony and arrested him. The boy’s body was handed over to the parents after autopsy at Karur GH. Further investigations are on.
