Ministers fear to meet people affected by the cyclone: TTV Dhinakaran
He also said that the current government is not so efficient as the Amma government was during the onslaught of the Thane cyclone.
Chennai
Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam supremo TTV Dhinakaran consoled the people of Ammaanipatu, Karambakkudi, Puthupatti, Soorakkadu, Naalrodu of the Gaja-hit Pudhukottai district.
Addressing the media from Karambakudi, he said:
"We believed that the government had made necessary relief arrangements for the public when it warned about the imminent cyclone. But it has been more than 10 days since the cyclone struck and still, people suffer without the basic amenities like electricity and drinking water."
"People in the relief camps are suffering because of the absence of basic necessities. Despite continuous request for Tarpaulin from the farmers and the general public, there is no response. People are pushed to use the advertisement sheets as shelter," he added.
He further added,"Ministers accuse me of using the cyclone for my political gains. AMMK has taken up the relief activities like a charitable trust. Due to increasing opposition, AIADMK ministers are scared of meeting the people."Â
"The current situation is that the AIADMKÂ MPs and MLAs are shooed away by the people. The current government is not functioning the way Amma's government did during the Thane cyclone. This is why the public is irated with them," he concluded.
