“Light to moderate rains or thundershower is likely to occur at most of the places, while heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry,” said S Balachandran, deputy director general of Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai.

The RMC predicted that scattered heavy or isolated very heavy rain is likely to occur over Kancheepuram, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Pudukkottai, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Ariyalur, Tiruvarur and Thanjavur, and Puducherry and Karaikal.

Due to the rough sea condition that is expected, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea. Squally wind, with speed reaching to 60 kmph, is likely over the Southwest Bay off the State’s coast.

The city will record a maximum temperature of 31 degree Celsius and the minimum 23 degree Celsius for the next two days.

Meanwhile, the Senkottai (8 cm) recorded the maximum rainfall in the State on Tuesday, followed by Manimutharu (6 cm), and Pamban, Papanasam, Tiruchendur and Rameswaram (5 cm). In the city, Nungambakkam recorded 5.4 mm of rainfall, while Meenambakkam recorded 27.5 mm until Tuesday night.
