CM likely visit Nagai on Monday

As many as 30,000 electricity poles and over 1.2 lakh trees have got uprooted in the impact of cyclone was reduced by the state by evacuating 82,000 people, the Chief Minister said. However, 20 men, 11 women and 2 children died due to the cyclone and heavy rain, he added.

Currently about 1,77,500 people have been moved to over 351 relief camps and they are attended by revenue and medical teams. The CM also expressed concern that hundreds of livestock including cattle, goats and deer have died due to the severe cyclone. About 10,000 personnel have been rushed to the affected areas to repair them and over a lakh people had benefited by medical camps held to prevent epidemic break out in cyclone hit areas. Responding to complaints from public that there is no drinking water and food, the CM said that the public were attended on war footing.

Later in the day, the CM flagged off trucks carrying relief materials to flood hit delta region. Meanwhile, the state government had also made arrangements in Nagapptinam as the Chief Minister is likely to visit the cyclone hit areas on Monday.
