TN to take 75 deserving students on foreign trips
In a first of its kind initiative, The Tamil Nadu government has decided to take 50 government and government-aided school students to Finland this December. The students will be selected from across the State from the fields of science, technology, arts, and literature.

The government will also take another 25 students to Malaysia in January, 2019. The team will visit educational institutions, museums, libraries, science labs and also interact with scholars, teachers, and students of host countries. A senior official from the Education Department told DT Next on Thursday that students will be selected at the high school and higher secondary level. “A circular has been issued across all the government schools seeking the list of students who performed well in the previous and the current academic year”, he added.
The shortlisted will also undergo a training programme ahead of the tour.
Stating that the government has allocated Rs 3 crore for the educational tour, the official said students will also be given appropriate clothes equipment to tackle the climate of Finland.
“In addition, the students will be given educational materials and information about the country that they are going to visit”, he added.
