AIADMK trying its best to avoid bypolls fearing defeat, says Mutharasan
The AIADMK may find excuses to avoid bypolls for the fear of losing in all constituencies, said CPI state secretary R Mutharasan.

Speaking to reporters in Salem on Tuesday, the CPI leader said that the AIADMK is not prepared to face elections. “They know it well they cannot win even one single constituency. The BJP in the Centre also feels that the AIADMK government should be in place until the Lok Sabha polls,” he added. On the delay in the release of seven convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, Mutharasan lashed out at the Centre for acting against it even after the state government sending a proposal to Governor recommending their release.
“The state government has only been showing undue interest in the release of its three party men involved in the Dharmapuri bus burning case, in which girl students of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) were killed,” he added.
The CPI leader said that the state conference of Tamil Nadu Vivasayigal Sangam will be held for three days from February 11, 2019. “Farmers are reeling under severe debts. Narendra Modi assured to double the income of farmers while becoming Prime Minister in 2014. However, all the agriculture requirements like manure and pesticide have increased by 60 per cent since then,” he said. Pointing out that Andhra Pradesh has built 22 check-dams on the 33km long Palar River, Mutharasan said that the neighbouring state has allocated funds to build more such check-dams.
“Water management schemes weren’t implemented properly in Tamil Nadu. The conference, which will be attended by leaders of several political parties, will sow the seeds for a political change in the state,” he added.
