Report on handling law and order problem near Tasmac shops sought
The Madras High Court has directed the Managing Director, Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (Tasmac) to submit a report about the steps taken to handle law and order problems around Tasmac shops created on account of drunkenness.

The division bench comprising Justice M Sathyanarayanan and Justice P Rajamanickam while passing interim orders on a plea relating to the relocation of a Tasmac shop, said though the shop in question has been relocated and since the petition is a public interest litigation and not an adversary litigation, sought the managing director, Tasmac to provide details about the arrangements made to handle law and order problems at Tasmac shops across the state and steps taken by Tasmac administration to abate/prevent such happenings.
Through another direction the bench sought the MD to provide details about the hygienic and sanitary conditions prevailing at all the Tasmac shops in the state. The bench on orally observing as to whether these shops exist in buildings with proper plan approval, impleaded the secretary, Home, in the case and posted the plea for further hearing to November 28.
