Students and teachers will get more lessons via YouTube, says SCERT
In a bid to improve student’s academic studies, Tamil Nadu State Council of Education Research (SCERT) has taken steps to launch more YouTube lessons for students as well as teachers. The Council also decided to enhance its skill development programmes in all government schools across the State.

A senior official from SCERT told DT Next that at present, the YouTube lessons are available from class one to class 12 with various subjects including English, Tamil, Maths, Science and Environmental Science. Following the request from the teachers and other stakeholders, the SCERT experts are working to launch more YouTube lessons and interesting practical activities for the students and also to the teachers, he said.
“At present several lakh students were benefited from the videos, which is available on YouTube”, the official said. The official said the duration of the new YouTube lessons will range from two minutes to five minutes. “SCERT is planning to launch another thousand videos by this academic year”, he added.
He said as and when new text books hit the schools, production of related digital content would commence and SCERT would share all the upcoming video content through the National Teacher Platform as well.
SCERT would enable teachers to access online courses to ensure continuous learning and access of resources for classroom use.
On the skill development programme for students, the SCERT official said, to fulfil the skill gap in the state, the council has begun promoting the skill development programme among the youngsters.
As a part of this, SCERT has taken steps to provide information about the skill development training centres in the state to the students who have passed the 10th and 12th standards but could not continue their higherstudies.
