Scrap TNPSC, if it neglects Tamil: PMK
PMK founder S Ramadoss on Sunday demanded the state government to dissolve the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) if the recruiting body does not conduct tests simultaneously in Tamil and English.
Chennai
Ramadoss, in a statement, alleged that TNPSC is giving importance only to students with English background and is not favouring Tamil medium students. “The recent group-II notification states that exams will be conducted only in English as they could not find experts to prepare Tamil questions for subjects such as politics, science and social science,” said Ramadoss.
He also said that out of 6.26 applicants, 4.8 lakh have opted for general knowledge and Tamil language, which means that all the 4.8 lakh applicants have studied in Tamil medium and can understand only Tamil. If they are given questions in English how can they clear the exams, questioned Ramadoss.
He further said that if there are experts to set questions for politics, science and social science in English why is TNPSC not ready to translate them into Tamil. “There is clear bias against Tamil medium students and the TNPSC is favouring students who have undergone coaching in private centres alone,” said Ramadoss.
He also criticised TNPSC secretary, Nandakumar, who became IAS by writing exams in Tamil, but not allowing applicants to write their exams in Tamil. PMK will stage a huge protest if TNPSC does not roll out another notification in the coming days that exams will be conducted in Tamil, too, said Ramadoss.
