Superstar pardons, takes back 10 Cuddalore members
Ten members of the Cuddalore district wing of the Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM), who were dismissed from the organisation after disciplinary action against them, have had their membership reinstated after a personal visit to Rajinikanth’s residence.

The ten members faced action after their conduct was found not in keeping with the principles of the organisation. However, after tendering their apology to Rajinikanth they have been welcomed back into the fold of RMM.
Rajinikanth has been in the spotlight since his return from Dehradun for his handling of the decisions of the disciplinary action committee headed by Dr Illavarasan, who was formerly with the DMDK. Prior to the actor-politician’s return, a spate of disciplinary proceedings were initiated against members of the Rajini Makkal Mandram for a range of offences from representing the organisation in the media without prior approval to complaints from the women’s wing of unruly conduct.Â
There were widespread rumours that long time loyalists of the star began to feel disillusioned by the proceedings and the perceived sidelining of state secretary Raju Mahalingam and chief coordinator VM Sudhakar. Rajinikanth addressed this issue on his return with a statement condoning the disciplinary action and stating in no uncertain terms that his true fans who will accompany him on his political journey will do so without expectations of posts, power or monetary returns.Â
The statement received criticism from some quarters, including the DMK mouthpiece Murasoli. Rajinikanth later released a toned-down letter where he said that his words, though harsh, were necessary and that no force can come between him and his fans and thanked them for extending their support.
The reinstatement of the dismissed members on tendering apology is another move that might serve as an indicator that the star has backpedalled on his initial harsh stance and is looking to win any lost support.Â
