Kongu Nadu Makkal Desiya Katchi leader, ER Eswaran on Monday demanded the State government to investigate into the increasing deaths of students from Tamil Nadu in New Delhi.
Chennai
“Earlier, medical students Saravanan and Sarath Prabhu ended their lives. Now it is Srimathi from Sathyamangalam who has committed suicide. The State government should investigate the continuous deaths of Tamil students in the national capital to prevent such instances in the future,” Eswaran said, in a statement.
Srimathi, an IAS aspirant, committed suicide in the hostel in which she stayed. The news sent shock waves across the state and among the community of IAS aspirants. However, no suicide note was found and the reason for her death has not been established till now.
“Students who score high marks in their schools and colleges aspire high positions and dream of becoming IAS officers and doctors. To pursue their dreams, they go to other states but their safety is not ensured,” said Eswaran, adding the government has a role in saving the lives of the students. Incidentally, all the three students hail from western districts.
Meanwhile, the body of Srimathi was handed over to her parents on Monday. Her body was taken to Coimbatore by air and was cremated at her native village of Alampalayam in Erode district.
