Suma (35), a resident of Perumal Koil Street at Pallipakkam in Minjur, was undergoing treatment and monthly check-up at the hospital for the past nine months. On Saturday afternoon, she suffered a sudden decline in her health and was taken to the Venkatarathina Hospital. She was later sent back to home after treatment.
Police sources said, “She was again taken to the same hospital in the evening for her illness. It is said that due to lack of transport facilities in the area, she was shifted to the hospital somewhat late.” However, doctors in the hospital said she was brought dead. Following this, relatives of Suma protested in front of the hospital. They charged that she was given wrong treatment when she was brought to the hospital. Following this, the dean of the hospital promised to pay Rs 5 lakh to the family of the deceased. After this, the protesters left the spot, the police sources said.
