“Prayers for inaugurating the new divine wells will be performed from Saturday and on Sunday public will be allowed to take bath in them. Starting with ‘Ganapathy Homam’, many other rituals like ‘Mudhal Kala Yaga Poojai’, ‘Irandam Kala Yaga Poojai’ and ‘Theertha Kinaru Pradhishtam’ will be done before opening the wells for public,” said Mangaiarkarasi, Joint Commissioner, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department, who is also the in-charge of Ramanathaswamy temple.

Out of 22 Divine wells in Ramanathaswamy temple, the first six are located in a narrow path. Hence, devotees were not able to access the wells during weekends and on festive days owing to the rush. A petition in this regard was filed at High Court, which directed the HR&CE department to newly construct six divine wells.

Change in entry and exit “Earlier, the devotees were allowed via the north tower of the temple to reach both Amman Sannadhi and the Divine wells. As part of the new arrangement, devotees will be allowed via eastern tower to go to the divine wells,” said Mangaiarkarasi.

She also said that the North Tower entrance would be used only for devotees to offer prayers at Amman Sannadhi and Swami Sannadhi.
