Fire after LPG blast destroys six houses
Six houses were destroyed in fire triggered by a LPG cylinder explosion close to Govindapuram near Vaniyambadi on Thursday. However, there was no loss of life or injury to anyone, according to sources.
Vellore
Fire service personnel said that a LPG cylinder exploded due to a leak and subsequently fire broke out in the house of Ramu, a labourer, on Thursday. Later, the fire fanned by the wind soon spread to neighbouring houses, reducing them into ashes.
On information, fire service personnel from Ambur and Vaniyambadi rushed to trouble-hit spot, battled for more than two hours and brought the blaze under control.
Officials said that the narrow streets, which prevented easy access to the spot, delayed their arrival and also their operation.
Revenue and police officials visited the spot and conducted an inquiry. Local AIADMK functionaries, who came to the spot offered aid to the six affected families. There were no casualties and hence no case was registered by the police.
