Ex-MLA alleges bias, cites vote by OPS camp
Expressing dissatisfaction over the HC’s verdict, former Andipatti MLA and AMMK member Thanga Tamil Selvan on Thursday questioned the rationale behind the Speaker’s decision in disqualifying the 18 MLAs, who supported TTV Dhinakaran.

To drive home his point, he recalled, “When O Panneerselvam-led group voted against the government during the Floor Test, he was allowed to attend the Assembly. However, the 18 MLAs, who were loyal to the party, were disqualified from their position.”
Both the Chief Minister and his deputy convened a meeting with their colleagues a day before the judgment where they reportedly dropped hints that a verdict would come in favour of the ruling camp, he pointed out and said, “Both even had expressed confidence that half the number of MLAs from TTV camp may cross over to their side. They can be tried for contempt of court for making such a speech when the matter is sub judice.”
“The next course of action will be decided when the disqualified MLAs meet AMMK general secretary V K Sasikala and deputy general secretary T T V Dhinakaran,” Thanga Tamil Selvan said.
