The Police Commemoration Day is observed on October 21 every year. For the first time, kin of police personnel who died on duty placed wreaths at the memorial pillar at the DGP’s office on Sunday. In the event held in New Delhi in which Prime Minister inaugurated a museum, ADGP M Ravi participated with family members of Grade I constable Selvaraj, who was killed by miscreants at the Coimbatore traffic police station in 1997.

In Puducherry, floral tributes were paid to the police personnel. Lt Governor Kiran Bedi, PWD minister A Namsivayam and senior police officers, including Director General of Police Sundari Nanda placed wreaths.
