Techie goes missing after parents force him to marry
A 26-year-old software engineer in Chennai went missing since Wednesday after his parents, who live in Tirunelveli, allegedly forced him to get married. A few days ago, his parents received a letter from him saying he was not interested in marriage and asked them not to search for him, police said.
Chennai
Police identified the missing man as J John Godwin, who was working as a software professional at a private firm in Tambaram MEPZ. He was sharing a house with three of his friends at Ananda Nagar in East Tambaram.
Police said that John’s parents were looking for an alliance for him. Even after expressing his disinterest in marriage, his parents recently showed him the photo of a girl from Chennai and asked him to meet her. Following that, John stopped talking to his parents. Meanwhile, three days ago his father Jackson received the letter from John. The letter reportedly sounded more like a suicide note to the parents.
Soon, his father travelled to Chennai and met John’s friends. They told that John was missing for the past five days but they thought he might be in Tirunelveli. When they checked his room, they found John had left his two mobile phones and bike key. His father filed a complaint at the Chitlapakkam police station. Police have registered a case and are trying to trace John.
