    Men accused in #MeToo must respond, says Kamal

    Kamal Haasan on Friday said that the men who have been accused must respond to the charges levelled against them while commenting on the ‘Me Too’ movement and the outing of men in the entertainment and other industries for sexual harassment and abuse.

    The actor-turned-politician also said that the Governor Banwarilal Purohit must step aside while there are allegations regarding his involvement in the scandal involving professor Nirmala Devi. He said that any dignified politician will step down in the face of such an issue and submit to scrutiny until his name can be cleared.

    Kamal spoke to the press prior to his departure to Salem and Namakkal on his tour with the people. He also raised concerns against the postponement of by elections, in Thiruvarur and Thirupparangundram citing possible rains. Speaking to the students in SSM college during his tour, Kamal said that the student community must take active interest in and be aware of politics and political developments from a young age. 

    Alliance with Congress

    Responding to questions from people at a session of Kelvikku Enna Badhil, Kamal Haasan ruled out the possibility of alliance with DMK. He said that the Makkal Needhi Maiam will ally with the Congress for the LS elections in the event that the alliance between the Congress and DMK is terminated. He added that his party will endeavour to remove AIADMK and DMK from power in Tamil Nadu.
