Chennai
The top brass of the AIADMK government led by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Deputy CM O Panneerselvam and Speaker Dhanapal on Monday conducted marathon meetings with advocate general Vijay Narayan and senior AIADMK ministers apparently to discuss about the Karunaas’ controversial speech related to the Koovathur ‘secrets’ among other issues concerning the AIADMK legislature party.
The actor, who was elected under AIADMK’s “Two leaves” symbol has been recently targeting the State government in public meetings and television interviews.
According to AIADMK sources, party whip S Rajendran was also part of the discussions and the recent behaviour of the Thiruvadanai MLA and three other MLAs who are in touch with the rebel TTV Dhinakaran camp were discussed in detail. The whip briefed the Speaker on the developments and show cause notices are likely to be served in a couple of days, sources told DT Next.
“At a time when the Madras High Court is to deliver the verdict in the 18 MLAs’ disqualification case, the speech by Karunaas has triggered the AIADMK Cabinet and a few MLAs have requested the whip to take disciplinary action against the rebel MLA, who has switched loyalty. Based on the reply by the MLAs, the Speaker will take further action,” said a senior AIADMK functionary seeking anonymity.
