Former Virudhunagar MP Manickam Tagore on Tuesday charged the BJP-led central government with having indulged in irregularities over the Rafale fighter jets deal, saying that it had finalised the deal at 200 per cent high cost.

While addressing a memorial ceremony of former chief minister K Kamaraj, he said that it was obvious that the Centre was involved in such irregularities because the deal involved a private firm.
Citing that Congress president Rahul Gandhi had alleged that the NDA government was indulged in irregularities in the deal following PM Narendra Modi’s visit to France, Tagore said that Gandhi will soon announce his second phase of campaign to bring out the NDA regime’s irregularities. “Gandhi will visit rural areas and explain to the locals about the deal,” he said.
Tagore also exuded confidence that the Congress party would align with the DMK in the ensuing parliamentary election.
Further criticising the state government, the former MP said that under rule of Kamaraj, who delivered good governance through various welfare schemes, Tamil Nadu was led to the forefront, whereas nowadays, ministers and officials are charged with corruption.
