A joyful get together of friends turned into a tragedy for a 24-year-old youth, who was pushed into a farm well by his friends, at Sappanthi Kuppam village near Vaniyambadi, on Sunday.
Vellore
The victim identified as Mavin Kumar, son of Mahendran, was a carpenter in Bengaluru. He had come to his village to spend the weekend with his family. On Sunday evening, Mavin joined his friends - Sudarshan, Arun, Ajith and Favid – for a booze session at a coconut grove.Â
After consuming alcohol, they were having fun. Suddenly, Sudarshan, Arun, Ajith and Favid playfully threw Mavin into a farm well nearby. After pushing Mavin into the well, some of his friends also jumped in. Since Mavin did not know swimming, he drowned.Â
The entire incident was shot on the deceased’s phone by one of his friends. When the other four realised that Mavin had drowned, they fled the spot.
Meanwhile, Mavin’s relatives launched a search for him on Monday morning and found his mobile phone near the well and were shocked to see the tragic video.Â
On information, the fire and rescue personnel reached the spot retrieved Mavin’s body and sent it to Vaniyambadi Government Hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered and an inquiry is on with Sudarshan, Arun, Ajith and Favid.
