Rajini fans confused over Mandram chief
Fans of actor-politician Rajinikanth have been left in a limbo on who the top authority of the Rajini Makkal Mandram is, after the appointment of Dr Illavarasan as organisation secretary.
Illavarasan, who was formerly with the DMDK, assumed the role of secretary after members were informed that state secretary Raju Mahalingam will not be involved in the day-to-day operations.
Since the appointment of Illavarasan, there has been a churn within the organisation with disciplinary action being initiated against office bearers of more than 10 district units.
Rajinikanth’s fans are also said to have expressed their unhappiness at the manner in which some proceedings have taken place and the apparent side-lining of Raju Mahalingam and chief coordinator VM Sudhakar, who had initially assumed charge of the RMM’s activities.
After Rajinikanth’s announcement to enter politics, his fan clubs across the State have been organised under the nodal body — Rajini Makkal Mandram.
The RMM has been in a constant state of flux since its inception with quite a few dismissals and internal disputes, which led Rajinikanth himself to address matters before the upcoming launch of his party.
