'Ponmana Semmal’ app launched by CM

The app has information about MGR, including his life, achievements and presence on the silver screen. The app has been designed in a way to attract young party cadre and supporters to help them have a better understanding about the life of MGR and his policies.

Artists who worked with MGR in his movies were honoured at the MGR Centenary meeting. They ranged from heroines to singers, makeup and child artists.

Prominent among them were PS Saroja, who worked with MGR in movies such as Koondu Kili, Jenova and Pudhumai Pithan. Also, singers, including P Susheela and LR Eswari, who worked with MGR were honoured. Among actresses, Latha, Vennira Aadai Nirmala, Kanchana, Sachu, Sheela, Rajasri, Kutti Padmini and Sagunthala were honoured. Among actors, Vijayakumar, who worked with MGR in Indru Pol Endrum Vazhga and Backiaraj, who worked with MGR in Avasara Police 100 were also honoured.

Others who received awards were Aaroor Das, dialogue writer and lyricist Muthulingam, lyricist Poovai Senguttavan, stunt master Ramakrishnan, makeup artist Ramamoorthy, costume designer Muthu and sound editor Rathna.
