Driver gets life term for killing second wife
The Vellore fast track court convicted and sentenced a lorry driver for murdering his second wife as she refused to bequeathe her house to his first wife, on Friday

Siva (51), a native of Murasaravakkam in Kancheepuram district, was a lorry driver in a brick kiln in the same locality. He was married to Malliga and the couple had three children.
While working in the kiln, he developed intimacy with his coworker Chinnaponnu (40), who had separated form her husband, of Maduramangalam of the same district.Â
Later, Siva married Chinnaponnu and settled down at Thirupakuttai near Katpadi. However, the couple had frequent quarrels as Chinnaponnu was not able to bear a child for him. Meanwhile, Siva insisted to transfer her house in the name of his first wife and her children.Â
On September 9, 2010, a fight broke out between the two over the same issue. During the course of the argument, an enraged Siva attacked Chinnaponnu with a log and also stabbed her with a knife. She was rushed to a private hospital in Vellore where she succumbed to injuries. Tiruvalam police registered a case and arrested Siva.
FTC judge S Gunasekaran after hearing the arguments convicted and sentenced Siva to life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 2000 for murdering Chinnaponnu.
