A private school teacher lost Rs 50,000 from her bank account after she shared her ATM card PIN over an unauthorised call, in Katpadi.
Vellore
The victim, Asifa Fathima (27) of Katpadi MGR Nagar, received a call within a few minutes of receiving her ATM card last month, police said. The caller, who introduced himself as a bank official, told her that her card was dispatched and asked her for her card number and the PIN, reportedly for verification purpose.
Immediately, Fathima provided him with the details and within a couple of minutes, she received two messages on her mobile stating that Rs 50,000 was withdrawn from her account in two instalments.
Thereafter, Fathima visited the nationalised bank, where she held the bank account, and informed them about the incident. However, the officials there refused to have made such calls, following which, Fathima met Vellore SP Pravesh Kumar and handed over a complaint on Wednesday
