School teacher thrashed for abusing minor, held

Sathish, who worked as a mathematics teacher, had reportedly misbehaved with a girl studying in Class 3 at a private school in Salem.

On learning about the incident, the girl’s parents and others thrashed Sathish in full public view. He was also beaten up by women with slippers.

Meanwhile, the entire episode was recorded and the video went viral on social media.

In another video, another student alleged that the teacher often touched the victim inappropriately even during the class hours. The Suramangalam AWPS police arrested the accused after holding an enquiry. 

In another incident, Thangaraj (50), a former AIADMK councillor from Modakurichi was arrested for raping a six-year-old at his house, in Erode on Sunday. “Thangaraj, who was unmarried and worked as a construction contractor, had taken the girl from the same neighbourhood to his house by promising her a chocolate,” police said. 

The accused had even threatened the girl against informing her parents. However, she told her parents about the incident and the parents informed the police.

The Modakurichi AWPS registered a case and launched a search for Thangaraj, who had subsequently gone into hiding. On Sunday, the accused was arrested from a hideout place in the same district.
