According to police, Ora (44) a native of Gujarat, who was running a textile showroom on Nehru Street here, was approached by a gang via the internet three years ago.
They reportedly lured him saying that he could get Rs 2 crore as loan if he joined an insurance scheme of the Central government, besides promising double interest for the money he paid. Ora, who believed their words, sent Rs 88 lakh in different instalments to the bank account that was given by the gang. When he asked for the premium amount due to him a few days ago, there was no response from them and then Ora realised that he had been cheated. Subsequently, he approached the cyber cell.
The cyber cell identified that Vivek Kapoor, Sandeep Sharma, Ramachander Singh and another man from Noida were involved in the crime.
