Actor Vishal launches ‘Makkal Nala Iyakkam’

Unveiling the Iyakkam’s flag at an event in the city, Vishal addressed speculations that his decision was linked to his potential entry in politics. “The Makkal Nala Iyakkam is not an association that is veering towards politics. We have formed this to help people. It will be an ambassador of change in the society,” he said. 

“People questioned me when I decided to file my nomination in RK Nagar by-poll. But when I questioned them back they had no answers. Politics that was once for the welfare of the people has now turned into a mere business. I am here to work for people and nobody can stop me,” Vishal added.

Earlier in the day, the actor-producer, who spoke at the 100th day celebrations of his last release Irumbu Thirai, announced his decision to contest in Thiruparankundram by-election. “Though no official announcement has been made on the by-election, I have decided to contest it,” he said.

Vishal helms the two most powerful bodies in the Tamil film industry the Nadigar Sangam and the Producer’s Council.
