Association President PWC Davidar told DT Next that C Vanmathi, Assistant Collector in Nandurbar was attacked by a group of tribal students on August 6. They vandalised her car when she was inside. She however escaped unhurt as police rescued her. Vinay Gowda, Assistant Collector in Taloda, was attacked by a group of students in another incident.
‘’While functioning in our official capacities to enforce law and order, we do so under the authority of government and such incidents are demoralising and tend to weaken the structure of democracy, which all of us are seeking to guard”. “We, along with the IAS officers of the country, appeal to the Government of Maharashtra to take severe and stringent action against the perpetrators of these acts and help the administrative fraternity to regain confidence, in the rule of law,” he said.
