Rs 1.34 crore for memorial of Dr B Sivanthi Aditanar
The state government has allotted Rs 1.34 crore for the construction of a memorial for Dr B Sivanthi Aditanar, former Director, Daily Thanthi Group, and chose Veerapandiyapattinam village near Tiruchendur, in Thoothukudi district, as the location to construct the memorial.

A GO, issued recently, said the announcement for the construction of the memorial for Dr B Sivanthi Aditanar was made by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami at the MGR Centenary Memorial meeting, in Thoothukudi last year.
Following the announcement, the Thoothukudi Collector was asked to identify the land for the memorial and based on the recommendation of the Collector, Veerapandiyapattinam was selected and 60 cents of land was allotted for the construction of the memorial. The memorial complex will comprise the memorial building of 78.41 square metres and a library. “The Principal Chief Engineer of PWD has been instructed to submit five model plans for the memorial and the best plan would be chosen by the government,” stated the GO.
