During inquiries, the youth, who has been identified as Senthil Kumar (30) of Mettupatti in Namakkal district, told the sleuths that Tirupur was the base of his operations. Acting on the leads given by Senthil, the team left for Tirupur on Sunday for a detailed investigation to find out if he was part of a bigger network.Â
NCB sleuths who spotted Senthil Kumar wandering on the station premises grew suspicious over the two big travel bags that he was carrying with him. When the sleuths checked the bag, they found 35 kg ganja in it. During interrogations, Senthil told the NCB team that had picked up the contraband, which was bound for Tirupur, that came in a train from Andhra Pradesh.Â
Senthil told the sleuths that he developed friendship with one Manoharan, while looking for a job in a hosiery unit in Tirupur. Manoharan had lured Senthil into ganja smuggling promising him with a good payment. He also gave him a new mobile phone and a sim card to coordinate with the dealers.
Senthil Kumar was arrested by the NCB when he tried to smuggle ganja from Katpadi. A case has been registered against him under the Narcotics Act.Â
