Complaint boxes to help cops ensure better policing
In an attempt to reach out to public for better policing, the Nilgiris police on Sunday installed complaint boxes in the district to facilitate public to drop their complaints for speedy action.
Coimbatore
The complaint boxes have been installed in Ullada village in Ketti police station limits and in Masinagudi. The public can drop their complaints in the box and give the police tip-offs, and at the same time remain anonymous if they want.
With the launch of the new facility, the police believe that it would help them in better policing. “The complaint boxes have been installed on a pilot basis as part of a pan Tamil Nadu project envisioned by the Director General of Police,” said D Shanmuga Priya, Nilgiris district Superintendent of Police.
The complaint boxes will soon be installed in all villages across the district. A constable will be deputed to check the complaint box and ensure that complaints are brought to the notice of the senior officials.
The complaint boxes system is also likely to be a convenience for public as they don’t have to come all the way to a police station to raise a complaint. Instead, the police will reach out to them to sort out their issues.
Just by dropping a complaint in the boxes, the public can now report on security issues, movement of suspicious persons or raise any other concerns about policing and other issues.
