Police said, residents spotted a man moving in a suspicious manner and closely watching many locked in Thottapalayam. Growing suspicious over his activities, some people of Soalpuri Amman Koil Street intercepted and questioned him. Since the man did not know Tamil, he could not reply to them properly. Angered by this, the public thrashed and handed him over to the police.
