Assistant prof suspended on abuse charge
Assistant Professor Thangapandian of Vazhavachanoor based TN Agricultural College and Research Institute, who has been accused of sexual harassment by a second-year student of the same college, was suspended on Thursday.

Amidst this development, ADSP Vanitha continued her inquiry into the allegation for the second consecutive day, while the TNAU enquiry was yet to commence.
Meanwhile Thangapandian and twowoman assistant professors, who were also wardens of the women’s hostel, lodged a complaint against the II year student with the Vanapuram police stating that the girl involving in various anti-social activities and was levelling false allegations against the staff and the institution in a bid to divert attention from her.TNAU disciplinary committee chairperson Shanthi arrived on the campus on Thursday, did not begin the enquiry though it was scheduled for Friday.
The ADSP told the media that she would submit her investigation report to the SP. “Action will be initiated based on the report,” she said.
It may be recalled that students boycotted classes for two days and attempted to block road on the first day in support of the staff against whom charges were levelled by the student.
