Ensure water at tail-end areas: TN PWD Secretary
Principal Secretary (PWD), S K Prabakar, who inspected the Kollidam river in Thanjavur on Wednesday, instructed the PWD engineers to ensure that Cauvery water reaches the tail end of all rivers and canals in the district.

Prabhakar inspected the strengthened banks of Kollidam at Anaikkarai and Vadapathy, and the flow of water in the flood carrier, besides inspecting the release of water into Kollidam from the lower Anaicut at Anaikkarai.
The Principal Secretary, who is also a member of the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) visited the Grand Anaicut (Kallanai) in Budalur panchayat union area and assessed the inflow of water. He also inspected the quantum of water released into the rivers of Cauvery, Vennaru, Kollidam and the Grand Anaicut canal from the Kallanai. He measured the water being let into the Grand Anaicut canal, which was 3,400 cusecs on Wednesday.
He was accompanied by A Annadurai, district Collector and R Senthilkumar, the Chief engineer of PWD. A member of Cauvery Water Regulatory committee (CWRC), Special Chief engineer Ravichandran, Mohammed Iqbal, the Executive Engineer of Cauvery division and Murugesan, the Executive engineer of Grand Anaicut canal also accompanied him along with other officials.Â
