    Railways supplies 2.8 lakh litres of potable water

    Southern Railway had extended its helping hand in providing drinking water to people of Kerala by supplying 2.8 lakh litres to Tiruvananthapuram by train, on Saturday.

    The syntax tanks were loaded on seven flat BRN wagons and were sent to Erode from Chengalpattu. Another set of syntax tanks, from Tondaiarpet in Chennai, had been sent in a train with 15 flag wagons and water would be filled at Erode. 

    Another one lakh water cans from Parasala plant would be distributed. Apart from the water sent in syntax tanks, 15,000 boxes with 1.5 lakh water bottles had been dispatched from Palur plant, in Kancheepuram. The boxes were dispatched in Kerala-bound trains. 

    Trains cancelled 

    Due to the closure of section between Shoranur – Kozhikkode in Palghat Division and Erankulam – Kottayam – Kayankulam section in Tiruvananthapuram division several trains were either fully cancelled or partially cancelled. 

    Alleppey–Kannur Express (16307), Madurai/Nilambur– Trivandrum Amritha Express (16344/13650), Kozhikkode – Shoranur Passenger (56600), Kozhikkode – Thrissur Passenger (56664), Shoranur – Ernakulam Passenger (56361), Palakkad – Ernakulam Passenger (66611), Ernakulam – Palakkad Passenger (66612), Nilambur – Ernakulam Passenger (56363) were fully cancelled. 

    Trivandrum – Chennai Central Express (12696) had been partially cancelled between Trivandruam and Palakkad. Shoranur- Coimbatore Passenger (56604) partially cancelled between Shoranur and Palakkad, Kannur - Coimbatore Passenger (56650) partially cancelled between Kannur and Palakkad. Coimbatore -Shoranur Passenger (66605) partially cancelled between Palakkad and Shoranur, Palakkad - Nilambur Passenger (56611 ) partially cancelled between Palakkad and Shoranur, Coimbatore – Kannur Passenger (56651 ) partially cancelled between Palakkad and Kannur, Mangalore – Coimbatore Passenger (56324) partially cancelled between Calicut and Coimbatore, Coimbatore – Mangalore Passenger (56323) partially cancelled between Coimbatore and Calicut, Shoranur – Coimbatore Passenger (66604) partially cancelled between Shoranur and Palakkad. 

    Gorakhpur- Tiruvananthapuram Rapti Sagar Express (12511) had been diverted via Erode, Karur and Tirunelveli. Similarly, Kanniyakumari-KSR Bengaluru Express had been diverted via Tirunelveli and Karur.
