Final round of TNEA counselling extended by a day
The fifth and the final round of counselling for the students seeking engineering admissions in Tamil Nadu has been postponed till Saturday as the Tamil Nadu government declared holiday on Friday as a mark of respect for former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Accordingly, students, who are taking part in the last round of counselling, could add and lock their choices of courses till the noon of August 18.Â
Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions 2018 (TNEA) secretary Dr V Rhymend Uthariaraj said the student’s facilitation centres will also function on Saturday so that candidates could also come directly and enter their choices.Â
With 51,990 students have already been admitted in the four rounds of counselling, while approximately 20,000 candidates are expected to be allotted seats in the last round.Â
The fourth round of counselling witnessed 23,212 students, who secured up to 125 marks in the merit list participating. The final round of counselling, which will be completed on Friday, is expected to see about 25,000 candidates taking part.Â
Accordingly, the tentative allotment for the final batch students will be allocated on Saturday and final provisional allotment will be made on August 24. The TNEA secretary also said, the registration of online applications for supplementary counselling will end on August 20.Â
The dates for original certificates verification and supplementary counselling will be informed later through SMS to the registered mobile number and e-mail. The call letters can be downloaded by the candidate from the TNEA portal.Â
The original certificates verification and counselling will be conducted in-person at the Centre for Entrance Examinations and Admissions, Anna University in Chennai. After original certificates verification, candidate can participate in the counselling.Â
