The arrested youth was identified as Nawaz, son of Sethu Bhai of Pullur in Kerala. He was travelling by the weekly superfast Akilyanagari Express from Indore to Thiruvananathapuram.

The accused reportedly misbehaved with a 22-year-old Coimbatore-bound woman co-passenger on the train. Despite being warned, the youth allegedly continued with his inappropriate behaviour. Thereafter, the woman dialed the railway police control room at Kadpadi and informed the personnel about the incident.

However, by the time the railway police reached the general compartment, the train had left the station. Therefore, the personnel informed their counterparts at Jolarpettai.

At Jolarpettai, a police team led by inspector Sivakami Rani entered the general compartment and called the complainant on her cell phone. Thereafter, the woman identified the youth who had misbehaved with her. The accused was then deboarded from the train, a case was registered against him and was remanded to custody.
