Even before the investigation into “marks-for-cash” was completed, there were reports that some students got admissions to various engineering courses in several Anna University affiliated colleges without undergoing counselling process.
Anna University sources on Monday said that the committee, comprising senior staff of the university, have also started gathering evidence against a few who, allegedly, are involved in providing illegal admission to the students superseding the counselling procedure.
The investigation team is collecting documents with regard to admission details to see whether any student got admitted by violating the rules. A senior staff from Anna University said that the committee is on the verge of completing its investigation in connection with awarding extra marks during reevaluation procedure.
He said the probe committee has collected several documents pertaining to the scam, which started from 2013 when M Rajaram was the Vice-Chancellor of the university.
The staff said that current Vice-Chancellor M K Surappa asked the committee to investigate thoroughly.
The committee, which will be submitting its report to the Vice-Chancellor this week, is closely working with DVAC officials.
Soon after the “marks-forcash” scam was dug up by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC), which saw the alleged involvement of the former controller of examinations, G V Uma, the prime accused, in awarding marks for students during revaluation, Surappa had appointed a committee, comprising senior professors, for a detailed investigation into the wrongful doings.
