Community feast planned in 449 temples on Independence Day
The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department on Sunday announced community feast in 449 temples across the state and all the Ministers, including Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, would participate in these feasts on the Independence Day.

In a statement, HR&CE Department said that it would conduct special prayers and community feasts in temples across the state on the occasion of Independence Day and it was the special initiative of former chief minister J Jayalalithaa, where people cutting across communities will participate.Â
This year, the feast would be held in 449 temples and people participating in them would be presented with dhotis and saris. In Chennai, Ministers, including the Chief Minister, would participate and in districts Collectors and MLAs would participate in the feasts.Â
In Chennai, Palaniswami will participate in the feast to be held at Sakthi Vinayagar Temple in KK Nagar, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam would participate in Marundeeswarar Temple in Thiruvanmiyur, Speaker P Dhanpal will participate in Thiyagaraja Swami Temple in Thiruvottiyur.Â
All the Ministers and important persons holding key posts in Assembly will participate in 35 temple feasts across the city.Â
The Chief Minister will hoist the national flag in the presence of other Ministers on August 15 and will proceed to the respective temples to participate in the community feasts.
