Rejig at top likely, says Rajini’s brother
There are signs of rift in the Rajini Makkal Mandram with Rajinikanth’s brother Sathyanarayana Rao Gaekwad claiming that the top brass of the organisation could soon be replaced.
Chennai
Speaking at a gathering of Rajini Makkal Mandram functionaries in Thirupathur, Sathyanarayana is said to have revealed that state secretary Raju Mahalingam and chief co-ordinator VM Sudhakar could soon be shown the door as many members have expressed displeasure at their functioning.
This statement comes on the heels of similar rumours that surfaced last month. Chief coordinator Sudhakar had issued a clarification on July 19 dismissing speculation of an exit by Raju Mahalingam. This was followed by gag orders placed on all members from airing personal views through official social media accounts and of sharing information on internal administration with the media.
Raju Mahalingam, however, stated then that these were all just rumours and that he intended to occupy his position in the Mandram’s administration. Rajinikanth has remained tight-lipped about the activities of his upcoming party since he returned from his shooting schedule in Darjeeling last week.
The 67-year-old declared his intention to enter politics in December 31 last year. Since his announcement, the fan clubs of Rajinikanth across the state have been organised under a nodal body, the Rajini Makkal Mandram.
