“While proceedings down the hill, on the fourth hairpin bend, the driver lost control and rammed into the side wall along the stretch. In the impact of the mishap, about 15 women and a one-year-old child suffered injuries,” policed added.

The injured were immediately rushed to Perianaickenpalayam Government Hospital for treatment. On receiving information, the Karamadai police rushed to the spot and held enquiries.

Police said the vehicle was speeding and could not be brought under control immediately. “Fortunately, the vehicle came to a halt by hitting the wall averting a major tragedy as it is a 150 foot deep ravine beyond the wall,” police said.

People visiting the Vanabadrakaliamman temple take the route through Kattanji hills as it would be shorter by distance. The Karamadai police have registered a case and further inquiries are on.
