Alleging Jaya spin to Bigg Boss ‘dictator’, plaint against Kamal
A police complaint has been filed against actor-politician Kamal Haasan for allegedly defaming former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in a show that he is hosting.

Chennai
Advocate Louisal Ramesh filed the complaint, alleging that the 63-yearold used the show he is hosting, Bigg Boss 2, to tarnish Jayalalithaa’s reputation. The complaint said that Kamal, the founder of fledgling party Makkal Needhi Maiam, has been using the show as a platform to promote his political interests.
It added that the task assigned to contestants this week, where one of them is chosen to rule over the rest as a dictator, was engineered by Kamal and the production team. It said that the lines spoken by the participants was scripted and the events of the week entirely orchestrated, contrary to the premise of the show.
“Haasan and the production firm behind the show are portraying the late chief minister as a dictator with an intention to bring disrepute to her,” she said.
“The Bigg Boss-2 programme is defaming Amma, who gave a peaceful rule, by portraying her as a dictator. The show should be banned, and legal action should be initiated against Kamal Haasan and producer Endemolshine India,” Ramesh said in the complaint.
The complaint calls for action against Kamal Haasan, as the events on the show such as references made by a contestant about North Indians being unaware of the fate of those who tried to rule Tamil Nadu in a dictatorial manner. The lawyer stated that he anticipated Kamal Haasan to refer to Tamil Nadu politics over the week.
Lousial Ramesh added that the show was steered in a manner that projected Jayalalithaa as someone who controlled the people of the state.
The second season of the popular reality show erupted in controversy last week, when Tamil actress Aishwarya Dutta (the current captain on the show) was assigned the tag of a ‘dictator’ and humiliated comedian Bhalajie by emptying a trash can full of garbage over his head, after finding out that he had abused Aishwarya behind her back. As the contestants watched in horror, the actress continued her spree of crazy acts throughout the episode, even indulging in a racist jibe at one point.
Since then, Aishwarya has been subjected to a lot of criticism on social media from audiences, while many of them have also voiced that both the actress and Bhalajie must have been instructed by the show producers and Kamal Haasan to exaggerate the incident to increase ratings.
Kamal Haasan’s camp has not commented on the issue yet, with the MNM president expected to take the stage on Saturday’s episode and address the controversy.
