Two teachers booked under Pocso Act

According to sources, Anbarasan (50), a teacher at Panchayat Union Primary School in Nariyampudupatti, had allegedly molested the minor girl students. Police said, the accused Anbarasan had been indulging in such kinds of activities with the women school staff too.

Gnanesekaran, the headmaster of the school, was reportedly aware of it, but hadn’t taken any action against the teacher despite complaints against him from other teachers.

Thereafter, the students broke the silence and spoke to their parents regarding the issue. The angry parents petitioned the Pudukkottai Chief Education Officer R Vanaja and District Education Officer Samy Sathiyamoorthy to probe the issue. Thereafter, Anbarasan was suspended on July 19 and Gnanasekaran was transferred for failing to act upon the issue. Demanding their arrest, the parents picketed outside the school. After collecting evidence, the All Women Police Station in Pudukkottai booked the two under POCSO act on Tuesday night.

Sources said Anbarasan has been absconding since Monday.
