Other state SC/ST certificate of TN natives not valid
The MHC has held that if a candidate of Tamil Nadu origin obtains community certificate from another state, the candidate cannot use the same to secure MBBS admission under reserved categories in Tamil Nadu and must opt for open competition.

Justice S Vaidyanathan while dismissing a plea moved by a candidate S Geetha, who had obtained her community certificate from Andhra Pradesh, said, “In this case, de-hors the question of migration, it is an admitted fact that the petitioner has obtained community certificate from the state of Andhra Pradesh and in view of Clause 18(b) of the prospectus, the petitioner will not be entitled to any relief and her candidature can be considered only under the Open Category and not under the reserved category.”
The petitioner had submitted that the she belongs to ST community and has also enclosed a copy of the certificate issued by the AP authorities. The additional advocate general contended that in clause 18 of the prospectus, it is clearly mentioned that if a candidate of Tamil Nadu origin obtains community certificate from other state, it will be considered under open competition.
