Will redraft Lokayukta Bill: Kamal Haasan
Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan has said that his first action if elected would be to redraft the current Lokayukta Bill as it falls short on many aspects. The Makkal Needhi Maiam president has expressed his concern several times before and has reiterated that it would be a priority for his party.

He also addressed the fact that he differs from his political contemporary Rajinikanth on his stand over the proposed Salem-Chennai Eight-lane Expressway by saying that maintaining agricultural lands should be priority and that it isn’t acceptable to destroy them for this project. “The roads which are already present can be widened, rather than the creation of new ones,” he said. The 63-year-old also vehemently stated that his party is secular and there is no decision taken on the basis of caste or religion.
Adding that his party is currently preparing a manifesto that will showcase its objectives clearly, Kamal also said that importance to education and smart villages would be some of his party’s priorities.
